Event Details

Sound Mystic Jeremy Sills and Percussionist Johannes Welsch have mesmerized audiences at the Sonic Gym for half a decade with a concert program entitled SYMPHONY OF SOUND.

The SYMPHONY OF SOUND (SOS) consists of a number of fascinating soundscapes around the insight that crystal singing bowls and symphonic gongs are powerful sonic catalysts for each other. Experts have maintained that these soundscapes are setting a standard in musical expression through the use of idiophones!

While considered a music shaman and sound mystic by many open-minded people who subscribe to the idea of sound healing, multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Sills’ university education in composition becomes evident listening to the SOS. Sills and Welsch neither recite a composition nor do they improvise exclusively, they much rather perform a powerful, deep ritual carefully crafted over years of musical collaboration at the Sonic Gym. To this percussionist Johannes Welsch adds the results of a lifelong exploration of rhythm and sound, beginning at the age of seven. Symphonic gongs became the center of his attention a quarter century ago. Some critics consider his album Sound Creation, released in 2012 on Deep Listening Label, a quintessential recording of Paiste gongs.

Above all this music is carried by a deep understanding and appreciation of the voice of the other, an intuitive familiarity with each others sonic vocabulary. These soundscapes thrive on the fact that the duo is the only human group in which the number of relationships is smaller than the number of individuals. Throughout the evening Listeners can expect to be mesmerized by this artistic unison underlying the complex sonic tapestry Sills and Welsch seem to generate effortlessly in a performance best described by its title: SYMPHONY OF SOUND.
